David was appointed a partner in 1974. He advises the firm’s corporate and private clients on strategic tax planning and also specialises in trust and will planning. David is also a director of Thomas May Financial Services Ltd. David’s outside interests include voluntary work in the prisons and also in Uganda for which he has established a charity ‘Help Unlimited’, which provides funds for an orphanage.

Brian Carruthers FCA
Brian was appointed a partner in 1979. He advises SME's and larger corporate clients and is particularly involved in the undertaking of specialised audits for building societies, credit unions and firms of solicitors.
A former president of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire Society of Chartered Accountants, he also offers corporate finance services and heads the firm’s Information Technology Department. Brian is also a director of Thomas May Financial Services Ltd. Brian’s outside interests include golf and supporting Leicester City Football Club.

Kaushik Bathia FCA
Kaushik advises corporate clients on audit compliance and is particularly involved in corporate finance and special investigations.
He has carried out due diligence work in respect of several mergers and acquisitions, including transactions involving listed companies.
A past president of Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Leicestershire Asian Business Association. Kaushik joined Thomas May in 1983 and has been a partner since 1990. He is also a director of Thomas May Financial Services Ltd.

Simon Marshall BSc FCA
Simon offers general commercial and accounting advice including business start-ups and incorporations. Simon joined the firm in 1982, after qualifying in 1975, and was appointed a partner in 1983. Simon’s outside interests include voluntary work for his local parish church, gardening and DIY.

Sarah Major BA(Hons) FCA CTA
As well as being a Chartered Accountant, Sarah is also a member of the Institute of Taxation.
She uses her expertise in tax and accountancy to advise both corporate and personal tax clients. Sarah, who became a partner in 2000, deals with HR issues for the firm. Sarah’s outside interests include walking and travelling.

Paul Hancock
Paul was appointed a Partner in 2009 and has been instrumental in developing the firm’s growing Business Services Department.
He offers general accounting, bookkeeping and VAT advice to small to medium enterprises, including new business start-ups, whether trading as sole traders, partnerships or limited companies.
Outside of work Paul enjoys playing basketball, golf and keeping fit at a local gym.
